Salt Lake Community Solar is made possible with the support and sponsorship of the following organizations:

sp-uceUtah Clean Energy is a non-profit, non-partisan organization committed to creating healthy, thriving communities for all, empowered and sustained by clean energy. Utah Clean Energy's mission is to lead and accelerate the clean energy transformation, with vision and expertise. Utah Clean Energy's policy, regulatory, and community initiatives remove barriers to the adoption of energy efficiency and renewable energy.  Utah Clean Energy serves as the Project Lead and Technical Advisor for Salt Lake Community Solar, which is supported by the Wasatch Solar Challenge (funded by the U.S. Department of Energy Rooftop Solar Challenge Initiative).

sp-wscThe Wasatch Solar Challenge (WSC) is one of 22 teams supported by the US Department of Energy's Rooftop Solar Challenge (powered by the DOE SunShot Initiative).  WSC is collaborative partnership of Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Summit County, Midvale, West Valley City, Park City, Utah Clean Energy and the Utah Solar Energy Association. The aim of the Challenge is to streamline the solar process for Utah's communities through improvements to permitting, zoning, and financing options.

sp-sunshotThe DOE SunShot Initiative is supporting this project through its Rooftop Solar Challenge. The aim of the DOE SunShot Initiative is to dramatically decrease the total costs of solar energy systems by 75% before the end of the decade. Reaching this goal will make solar energy cost-competitive with conventional forms of electricity without subsidies and enable widespread deployment across the United States.

Salt Lake Citsp-slcityy supports and endorses Salt Lake Community Solar as an innovative initiative to simplify solar for its residents.  Salt Lake City was designated as one of 25 Solar America Cities (by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)) in 2007 and as a DOE Rooftop Solar Challenge Awardee in 2012.  Salt Lake City is firmly committed to removing barriers to the adoption of solar energy, and serves as a lead partner on the Wasatch Solar Challenge  to simplify and streamline solar for its citizens and businesses.  In collaboration with Utah Clean Energy and Salt Lake County, the City developed a comprehensive Solar Implementation Plan to facilitate expanded adoption of solar for local government facilities, businesses, and residences by 2015.  Mayor Ralph Becker received the 2012 Solar Champion Award from the Utah Solar Energy Association and Utah Clean Energy in recognition for his solar leadership and successful solar initiatives, including the improvements to solar zoning and the highly successful Solar Salt Lake Project.

sp-saltlakecountySalt Lake County supports and endorses the Salt Lake Community Solar Project.  As a partner on the Wasatch Solar Challenge and the Solar Salt Lake Project (both initiatives supported by US Department of Energy), Salt Lake County is committed to making it easier for people to choose solar energy.  Salt Lake County is leading the charge for solar energy in Utah, with solar installed on ten County facilities, including one of the largest roof-top solar panel installations in the U.S. (1.65 Megawatts) on the of Salt Palace Convention Center.  Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon received the 2012 Solar Champion Award from the Utah Solar Energy Association and Utah Clean Energy in recognition for his solar leadership and numerous successful solar initiatives, including the Salt Palace Solar project and the pilot Energy Smart Loan Program.
